Hi, my name is Alex Fordyce. I am a resident of Farnborough, Kent, a qualified teacher & experienced tutor having worked in an FE College and for two charities. My expertise is in teaching numeracy and literacy to adults and children.
I like helping children with numeracy or literacy so they can progress at school and gain knowledge and skills for everyday life.
I also like to teach mathematical skills that help adults in everyday life (fractions, decimals, percentages, understanding graphs and charts, etc.) and with courses like nursing, social care, hairdressing, travel & tourism. Skills and knowledge that give people good foundations in maths and the ability to use numbers at work.
I understand that many adults didn’t have a good experience of maths at school and lack some useful mathematical skills that can help with understanding bills, prices, medicines or interest rates.
I have an upper second class degree in Business Studies (specialising in Finance), a PGCE and an enhanced DBS certificate.
In 2022 I was nominated for an Award at Bromley’s voluntary work awards ceremony for my “excellent service and help you contribute as a volunteer” in the Supporting an Individual category for my maths tuition for the charity Hestia.
